We have all heard those songs on the radio. You know, the bangers that get our lips singing and our heads swaying? They make our hearts warm and our smiles big. Sometimes they bring out old emotions we forgot we had. Songs take us back to memories of the best and worst times. Music has a powerful way of making us feel and think. On rare occasions, we hear a song that transforms us and gives us goosebumps. We hear a song that changes our lives forever. Music moves us.

I have always enjoyed turning the music up and letting my mind go free. There’s something special about connecting to people through song. I didn’t hear this song on the radio; my cousin sent it to me on Facebook. It is different than the music I would typically hear. But now, I listen to it every day, and I am forever thankful to have heard it. I want to share it with you!

What IS The Song??

Drumroll, please! the song is: “I Am” by the magnificent musical group Satsang.

When I first played the song, I listened to it a few times. I’ll be honest; I wanted to cry. I started to listen to the lyrics closely. I felt as though it was the perfect time in my life to be hearing it. Go ahead and listen to it now if you’d like.

What I Learned From The Song

  • No matter which direction we are heading in life, we must remind ourselves that life is a learning experience. There are things we do know and things we may never know, and that is okay. We will continue to learn along the way! Remind yourself that your life is YOUR life, and it isn’t supposed to be the same as others’. You are heading down your own path.
  • “I will starve my ego, and I will remain strong.” If this doesn’t make sense, that’s alright. I didn’t understand it. I am still learning. I have learned the ego is that voice in our heads. That voice in your head isn’t who you are. Try to observe the voice in your head, and by recognizing that voice, you are making progress. Is it a positive, negative, or monotone voice? Keep in mind that you are not the voice in your head. I was in awe because I never knew this. The song opened my eyes to a view I never knew existed.
  • We are born into fear. That doesn’t mean that we must continue to carry that fear with us. Satsang helps us by sharing that they are letting go of the things that are no longer serving them. Find out what is holding you back or stopping you. Is it a person? An addiction? Money? Your ego? Whatever it may be for us, we are allowed to let it go also. We are free.
  • Self-love. Self-love is the most beautiful gift one can give themself. Whatever is holding you back from unconditionally loving yourself, know that it’s okay to let it go. Are you holding yourself back from unconditional love? Ask yourself why. Get real with yourself. Face the demons of your past or your mind. You deserve to feel love, and that love needs to come from the inside first. You can stand tall in the lion’s den; you are one of them!! I believe in you!
  • Home is where the heart is. There is security in knowing that you have your group of people who love you unconditionally. There’s never a reason to feel alone because whether you recognize it or not, there’s a place you can call home too! There’s still a place to call home that you may not know about yet. Maybe you have yet to meet the most incredible people in your life! That is exciting to think about!
  • I deserve to be here. This line is so powerful. When I first heard the song, I remember this line hit differently. I felt moved because a family member sent it to me. It was a random message with this song attached. It’s beautiful how Satsang shares their insights and then goes on to add, “and so do you”. It made me feel special as if my cousin and Satsang were both telling me, and I just needed to get on board and tell myself too.

What do you think of the song? Is there a song that took your breath away the first time you heard it? Let’s connect through music! Enjoy! And remember, you deserve to be here!
